Trauma Surgery
Accidents are a part of life; as much as we do to prevent them, they may still occur and cause harm to life and limb. The eyes may also be affected during accidents at home, at work, or even on the street. All ages are susceptible and all manner of damage may occur from minor to vision-threatening or eyeball-threatening injuries, including introducing infection into the otherwise sterile eye environs.
As varied as accidents can be, so can injuries to the eye. Any layer or structure can be affected from the superficial lid and lacrimal apparatus to the deep-seated retina and optic nerve. Some injuries may result in an Intra-Ocular Foreign Body (IOFB) being left inside the eye. The surgical management of trauma to the eye requires skills and experience in dealing with all the layers of the eye. At ahuja eye centre, Dr. Anupam Ahuja has years of experience in the extraction of metallic and non-metallic IOFBs.
Eye injuries may appear minor but should be carefully examined and investigated. Ahuja Eye Centre has state-of-the-art investigative equipment to analyze the extent of injuries to the eye precisely. Only then can appropriate management be decided and the prognosis for vision be assessed.
